OnePlus, what are you thinking?

With a busy timetable at work, I was concentrating at my desk when a notification popped up on my phone saying there was a system update available. It seemed like a good time to update it, as I wasn't using the device and it had plenty of charge, so I kicked it off. Big mistake!

The update in question - why, that's right, its snappy codename is LE2113_13.1.0.582(EX01) - turned out to be a big problem. It has knocked out my mobile network, stopped the home button from working, won't let me get into settings, and no longer shows notifications. Only "back" works, so for some apps I can "back" out to home. For others, like the browser, "back" doesn't actually leave and so I am stranded there. The only way out is to switch the phone off and on again (and the buttons for this have changed). Oh, and NFC no longer works so that's payments out of the window too.

Reading the comments on the above link, you'll see I'm not the only one having these problems. This is a completely reputation-destroying action by OnePlus, and it's hard to see how they'll come back from it. I've been very happy with my OnePlus 9 until now, but at this point would never consider buying another one from this manufacturer. I cannot imagine how a company could put out an update that is so completely broken.

So, no, today hasn't been so great. And don't even talk to me about the broken networking at the office I was working in today..!
