Juneathon day 21: pairs PT - man cave session, hardest yet

I don't know when we first started referring to our pairs PT sessions as going into the "man cave", but the name has certainly stuck. I received a suitable placard for Fathers Day; at this morning's weekly PT session, we hung it on the door of the gym room, just in case anyone wasn't clear what was going on. (I would attach a photo if my hands weren't a bit full with puppy activity!)
The sign turned out to be a bit redundant, since we then went on to do much of the session outside; Darrell had prepared an onslaught for us the likes of which I haven't experienced before! The first half was "team activity", with me and Holger comprising the team ... or, more accurately, us two and a large lorry tyre. The activities we then struggled through were:
- tyre carrying - we had to carry the tyre between us down a lane and back
- tyre presses - simultaneously raising the tyres above our heads, one on each side
- tyre slams - whacking it with a sledge hammer
- tyre drags - using the sledge hammer as a hook to drag the tyre up and down a gravel road
- tyre squats - one on each side, squats
I don't know what the tyre weighed, but it felt like quite a lot! After two sets of that lot, I was completely dripping with sweat, that's for sure.
If you're interested, I believe there may be some pictures on the Wild Training Amersham Facebook page.
After this hideous set, we went inside for some more traditional action. We worked alternating in sets of three:
- chest presses / sit-ups
- weighted arm raises / pull-ups
At this point we had run out of time, so a quick stretch-off and we were free! I staggered back to the car a broken man...
I'm not sure things were made much easier by the lack of sleep last night, at the hands of our children and puppy - but that's another story!
Anyway, today's Juneathon activity: 1 hour of circuits
