Juneathon day 5: you win some, you lose some

If you'd asked me an hour ago how today went, I'd be sounding pretty up-beat. Yes, the working day was mostly topped and tailed by school drop-off/pick-up, followed by some extensive juggling to make it to an early evening meeting at school to do with going up to senior school. But, after that, I had the chance to head out for a run round Amersham, and I took full advantage of it!

I thought a slightly more scenic route would make a nice change, heading down to Chesham through fields and footpaths, then doing some exploring. It was lovely! I took pics of the sunset, and saw other scenes that I couldn't snap, such as that of a muntjac deer grazing in a field about 10m from me (who unfortunately legged it as soon as he got wind of me, quicker than I could produce a camera). All told, I managed 5.9 miles in a leisurely 1:07 ish.

The only downside to my run was that I hadn't made the connection that running through paths and fields in shorts isn't great at this time of year due to the thriving population of stinging nettles in this area! I did get rather stung in a few particular stretches, as a result - although the stings have got nothing on the toxic bites I'm used to receiving from those Hervines Park insects at Wild Training!

I have photos from the run, but can't put them in this blog post. Why's that, I can hear you ask: no, the real problem today came afterwards. As I was tidying up and preparing for tomorrow, my phone, which had been perched on the sofa, slid off onto the stone floor, and ... no, I can't bring myself to say it. All I can point out is that: yes, the display still works; yes, there are cracks in the glass, and; no, it doesn't respond to touch any more. Any advice on the best course of action for an otherwise fantastic Nexus 4? Or indeed how to get photos off the phone, when I can't unlock it with the screen..?

As I say, you win some and you lose some...
