Olympic tickets: families of 5 need not apply!

20120807-012624.jpgWe had a lovely family outing on Saturday, to see the Women's Olympic Triathlon at Hyde Park. It seemed like a natural choice, after all the work that went into training for the Blenheim Triathlon, earlier in the year. Then, having got a taste for it and fired up by the genuinely awesome (an over-used word, but appropriate here) Opening Ceremony and excellent performance of the UK athletes, we thought it might be fun to go to see some other Olympic events.

Tickets do seem to come up regularly - the excellent Twitter account @2012TicketAlert spots them becoming available, and I have had tickets in my shopping basket only 10 minutes ago. However, For everything apart from football (which I hate), it appears there is a ticket limit of 4. As a family of 5, this excludes us from doing anything at all! And don't even get me started on the completely useless website for buying the tickets, which wastes everyone's time with "phantom tickets" that can't actually be bought...

I'm guessing nobody wants to give us 5 tickets to something in the Olympic Village on Tuesday?!

UPDATE: Looks like a lot of people are trying to get tickets, based on hits to this page. Don't forget that you can also get Twitter to send you text notifications to your mobile when an account tweets. That allows you to act quickly when something becomes available. Good luck, everyone!
