Janathon day 13: the Pednor strikes back!

It has been easier to do the exercise for Janathon than blog about it! The last few days have been very busy, what with one thing or another, and I've barely stopped between Friday morning and now, it feels like. Good busy, though, rather than bad busy; work, but also catching up with friends, widening our cat's social circle and the like. During this period, writing a blog post hasn't really been an option!

While this summary is therefore rather brief, as I try to get back on top of the blogging side of Janathon, I should say that the enjoyment involved with the exercise was rather substantial!

After a recent tweet about running the Pednor Loop, a friend came back to me and said he was up for it; the resulting run took place on Sunday morning at about 9am - an outcome that couldn't have happened without the power of Twitter. It was very cold indeed, but an absolutely beautiful morning.

The run itself was 5 miles round the loop, a lovely experience as we chatted our way down narrow country lanes. It felt very much easier without music, just gossiping about this and that rather than worrying too much about pace, distance and so on.

My friend used to be a member of the Chiltern Harriers, and had run the circuit many times, with various different route options, as part of their training programme. Maybe another time I will convince him to take me round some of the more interesting variants - you never know.

Anyway, the end result was that we ran a very enjoyable 5 miles in 47:13, at a pretty gentle, talking-all-the-way-round kind of pace that seemed to pass much quicker than 47 minutes. Afterwards, we headed off our separate ways, but I expect that we'll manage something similar at another point - it was good!

Distance run: 5 miles

Time: 47:13

Temperature: very chilly indeed
