Janathon day 17: lunchtime run to Chorleywood, train back

It is about 7.5 miles from my office in Rickmansworth to where I live in Amersham. One day I plan to run home: this is quite a lot longer than my current regular range, but not beyond the bounds of possibility. I thought, for my Janathon run today, that I would go just a part of the way, to Chorleywood rather than Amersham, and then get a train back, to work towards this goal.

I had a quick look at the map and figured what sort of route I would need, aiming at backroads to be direct. It ended up being one of my hillier runs, so a good challenge, but not too far to take up excessive time.

Although it was very cold, I had loads of layers to keep warm; turns out the hills did a good job there too..! As quite a lot of the route didn't have paths, I had to keep my eyes peeled and keep my pace up too. Towards the end, I took a small detour onto Chorleywood Common for a short distance, for safety. Next time I will take a photo - it was lovely up there!

The run itself, excluding warmup/cooldown walks, was 2.59 mi in 22:50. Given the hills, I was very happy with that.

This evening has been my orchestra rehearsal (the concert is only about 2 weeks away now, so lots to do); there has been no prospect of adding any more Janathon activity. See you tomorrow!
