Janathon day 18: musical ordeal!

Two events coincided today: Mrs H was in London all day for her yoga teacher training; and I had rehearsals all afternoon for my Misbourne Symphony Orchestra concert, and then the concert itself in the evening. With three kids to deal with, it was always going to be a busy sort of day!

My kids were forced to sit through the 3 hours of rehearsal without adult supervision, and to be honest were pretty good given their age (our youngest is 5, who was mainly looked after by our 10yo). Their good behaviour earned them some Phish Food ice cream, too - it was only fair. The rehearsal itself was pretty intense: playing pretty solidly for 2.5 hours takes quite a lot of physical effort, in my case holding my arms up to keep my flute in place!

The concert itself was another 2 hours of playing, giving me, say, 4 hours of musical endurance challenge for Janathon! To have something more specifically exercise-related in there, though, I did also slip in a quick 20 press-ups at home, though...

Here's a link to the picture on Facebook, which is part of an album of nice pictures of the orchestra at work...
