Thursday evening is orchestra practice for me - I play flute in a local orchestra, the Misbourne Symphony Orchestra. (We have a concert soon, that you might like to come along to!) So doing exercise this evening just isn't going to happen. Instead, I thought I would slip in a quick run at lunchtime.
What I didn't do, unfortunately, was take account of the fact it is completely freezing today! Luckily I happened to have a hat in my bag, but I was woefully under-dressed and it took a good 20 minutes to feel anything other than extremely chilly. The route I took, though, was mostly rather scenic (even if I did have to divert out of the aquadrome due to a closed path, just at the point I was about to take a token photo).
I did the run listening to Helen Hall's excellent barefoot running recording, as I wanted to revisit technique and avoid injury. So before and after the run itself I did about 10 minutes of walking to warm up and cool down, and the run itself was pretty gentle. I ran 2.04 chilly miles in 18:50 so won't be setting any new world records anytime soon!
Even if I didn't pack any warm clothing, I did at least manage to bring myself in a thoroughly paleo lunch - a couple of chicken thighs with a selection of roasted vegetables (beetroot, squash, onion, parsnip, peppers, sweet potato; it might have also benefited from some Brussels sprouts, but unfortunately none were left for me to plunder). I absolutely LOVE this kind of meal, so you can imagine how much I enjoy leftovers at Christmas..!
Anyway, enough of this nonsense. My final Janathon tally for today will be:
Distance: 2.04 miles
Time: 18:50
Temperature: About 1C
