Juneathon day 8: an oasis in the desert (and a fun party)

Okay, it's late and we have an early start in the morning, so let's hit hard and fast! Saturday, with an action-packed oasis of activity in the desert of calf woes: I salute you!
The day started well, with a Wild Training session. That was an hour of tabata, alternating between rip training and various kinds of jump lunges and burpees. This time we also finished off with a set of tabata press-ups (don't try this at home), and a short but sharp abs session.
Next, I managed to fit in a little run to try my calf out and see how it felt. In total I did 2.79 miles in 29:34 ... and the calf seemed happy enough. It was quite slow, so I'm going to still try to be careful, but it's encouraging.
The afternoon had a surprise in store, though; suddenly the diary opened up enough for me and my 11yo to head out for a little bike ride. He's been dying to do this for a while, so was very keen. So we headed round for a quick blast round the Pednor Loop - it was looking lovely in the sunny weather, and felt good. It's always nice to have a chat, too, without being bugged by little sisters..! Here's a pic taken near the end. In the end, we managed an enjoyable 5.2 miles in 33:23.
Finally, the party. Okay, this isn't really Juneathon, but it was fun so I'm going to run with it anyway! At a friend's birthday party, a group called Ashanti Strings had been hired to put on some music. They were very good! And the second half of their show was high energy; after this photo was taken, an excellent dancer soon appeared and took many of the partygoers through a dance routine a bit like a zumba class.
Anyway - bed now, we're going to Blenheim Triathlon tomorrow to support a friend...
Junethon total: 1 hour of circuits, 2.79mi running and 5.2mi cycling.
PS I'm feeling quite a lot better now on this low carb experiment. More soon!
